Only weather.com gives advertisers the flexibility to use the zip code/location information users enter to view weather forecasts - in addition to a user's IP (Internet Protocol) address - to geographically target ads to over 80,000 locations worldwide.

In addition, we offer two ways for advertisers to layer IP targeting to our contextual targeting capabilities:

In-Market Targeting
Target weather.com users who are viewing weather information for a DMA and whose IP address is also based in that DMA. For example, someone viewing an Orlando forecast page whose IP address is also from Orlando.


Out-of-Market Targeting
Target weather.com users who are viewing weather information for a DMA but whose IP address is not based in that DMA. This option is a good fit for advertisers in the travel industry.
